The fact is that tourism right now is at it's highest, and in Hawaii we don't have many better options on improving our always faltering economy. Hawaii may have agriculture and businesses, but what we really have is the land. We live in one of the world's most pristine places and so far our tourism is the only thing right now that isn't failing to give the money back to our Islands which we so badly need. We could use this extra money for fixing roads, money for schools, and we could also improve the job count. There are a lot of people out there who really need a job and tourism is also a major factor of jobs here.

       Some people say that they think tourism is a bad idea only because they think that tourists are disrespectful to the land or people, but they really don't know any better. But there are always ways to improve situations like these, it could turn into a win-win type of deal. We could put up more signs of what danger they could cause to the land (for example the problem with coral reefs being stepped on.) Also they learn along the way about Hawaii, like on tours of the Island where they see the land and also learn more about it. It's just that we would need to add an educational step into the tourists' vacation so that they can enjoy the way the Islands are for centuries to come.
